For more than a decade, Jim McLaughlin has focused on one
simple goal: bringing people together to solve problems and
deliver results for the communities he serves.
Yesterday Helping Central Falls Recover
When Jim McLaughlin took office in 2011, Central Falls was
facing one of the most difficult periods in its history. The city
entered bankruptcy and was placed into receivership, creating
uncertainty for residents, businesses, and families.
Jim worked alongside the City Council, local leaders, and
state officials to help guide Central Falls through its financial
crisis. Through cooperation, fiscal responsibility, and practical
leadership, the city regained financial stability faster than many
expected.
With the citys future back on solid footing, Jim helped secure
up to $80 million for a new schoolan investment in students,
neighborhoods, and future generations that continues to
benefit the entire community.
During Central Falls state receivership, the state-appointed
receiver imposed deep cuts to firefighters pay and pensions.
Jim worked with state leaders to help restore those benefits and
support the citys first responders. His efforts helped protect
the firefighters who protect our community and strengthened
public safety during a difficult time.
Today Delivering for District 57
Advocating for the people of District 57, Jim has continued
working to improve the quality of life in both Central Falls
and Cumberland by supporting projects that strengthen
neighborhoods, improve infrastructure, and invest in the future.
In Cumberland, Jim helped secure $15 million for the Broad
Street Initiative, providing major roadway improvements,
new sidewalks, and infrastructure enhancements extending
from Town Hall. The project improves safety for pedestrians
and motorists, supports local businesses, and creates a more
welcoming downtown for residents and visitors alike.
Whether helping communities recover, improving roads and
sidewalks, or investing in schools and neighborhoods, Jim
believes every project should leave the next generation better
off than the last.

people of District 57 by focusing on the issues that matter most.
