NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the North Smithfield Town Council will hold a Public
Hearing at the North Smithfield Town Hall, 83 Greene Street, North Smithfield, RI
on June 15, 2026, at 6:45 PM. The purpose of the Public Hearing is to consider, and
act upon a proposed text amendment to the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of North
Smithfield (the Zoning Ordinance). The proposed zoning amendment is to Article
XIV, Special Flood Hazard Areas, 340-4.33 - Applicability, to bring the reference to
the FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps into compliance with newly adopted FEMA maps
dated June 23, 2026.
At said Hearing, opportunity will be given to all interested persons to be heard upon
the proposed amendment. The proposed amendment may be altered or amended
prior to the close of the Public Hearing, without further advertising, as a result of
further study, or because of the views expressed at the Public Hearing. Any alteration
or amendment must be presented for comment in the course of the hearing. The
proposed amendments are to be made in accordance with the provisions of Section
45-24-53 of the General Laws of the State of Rhode Island (as amended).
The proposed amendments are available for inspection or copying at the North
Smithfield Town Clerks Office, Town Hall, 83 Greene Street, North Smithfield, Rhode
Island during regular business hours (Monday- Wednesday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM,
Thursday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM & Friday 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM), or on the Towns website
at https://www.nsmithfieldri.gov/
Interested persons requiring special accommodations or assistance are requested to
notify the Town Clerks Office (401-767-2200, Ext: 326) at least 48 hours in advance of
the hearing.
